Family Education

Learning by Living Jewishly

For the 2026–2027 school year, Kol Shira is launching a Family Education program to offer a holistic approach to Jewish learning. Our program combines congregation-based and home-based learning, inviting parents to partner with our clergy and community in helping children grow in Jewish knowledge, traditions, values, and identity. Together, these experiences provide an alternative to a religious school model.

Our curriculum is designed to foster a personal connection to Jewish tradition, music, knowledge, and community through a flexible blend of communal gatherings, family learning, and at-home engagement.

How We Learn Together

Community & Service Participation

Jewish identity, belonging, friendships, mitzvot—and the cycles of Jewish life

Regular participation in Kol Shira Shabbat and Holiday services and other community-wide social, cultural, educational and mitzvah events throughout the year. Most gatherings of Kol Shira include opportunities for all ages, including families with children, helping us grow as one community. Through these experiences, children will have a lived Jewish experience.

Bi-Monthly Family Programs

Shared learning, play, and discussion

Interactive family learning gatherings held approximately every two months, utilizing the structured and engaging Shalom Learning curriculum and other materials.

Weekly Music Curriculum

Melodies of Jewish life

A curated, at-home music listening curriculum that brings the melodies of Jewish life into your family's daily routine. As children become familiar with the music of Shabbat, holidays, and celebrations, they also absorb the traditions, stories, and values those melodies carry.

At-Home Family Activities

Connecting Jewishly at home

Experiential activities that help families explore Jewish traditions together at home while reinforcing the themes introduced through our community learning.

Online Studies—for Grades 3 and Older

Hebrew and Jewish knowledge

Specialized online Jewish and Hebrew studies powered by Shalom Learning. Families may choose to complete this individually at home or in a small-group setting.
