Family Education

An alternative to Religious School

For the 2026-2027 school year, Kol Shira is providing a Family Education program to impart wholistic Jewish Education. Our program combines congregation-based and home-based education and enables parents to partner with our clergy and congregation to impart Jewish life knowledge to their children—as an alternative to the religious school model.

Our curriculum is designed to foster a personal connection to Jewish tradition, music, knowledge, and community through a flexible blend of communal gatherings, family learning, and at-home engagement.

Core Program Components

Community & Service Participation

Regular participation in Kol Shira Shabbat and Holiday services and other community-wide social, cultural, educational and mitzvah events throughout the year. Each gathering of Kol Shira includes opportunities for all ages, including families with children, helping to make us one community. In this environment, children will have a lived Jewish experience.

Bi-Monthly Family Programs

Interactive family learning sessions held approximately every two months, utilizing the structured and engaging Shalom Learning curriculum and other materials.

Weekly Music Curriculum

A curated, at-home music listening curriculum to bring the melodies of Jewish life–and the knowledge and traditions they impart–into your family’s and children’s daily routine.

At-Home Family Activities

Experiential activities based on the Shalom Learning curriculum provided to reinforce community learning themes as a family.

Online Studies—for Grades 3 and Older

Specialized online Jewish and Hebrew studies powered by Shalom Learning. This can be completed individually at home or within a small group setting.
